Description

Join us as a Pharmacist at the Phoenix VA Health Care System located in Phoenix, AZ.

Duties include:

  • Full spectrum of outpatient and inpatient pharmacy services.

  • Dispense drugs prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners and provide patients with information regarding medications and their use.

  • Identify potential therapeutic problems such as inappropriate dosage, incorrect strength, or improper dosing intervals.

  • Counsel patients and respond to their questions.

  • Provide exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills with co-workers and patients.

  • Ensure medication orders are entered and verified in the electronic patient medical record.

  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations.

  • Provide strict security for all drugs and controlled substances.

Period of Performance: Base period 1 year 10/1/2025-9/30/2026 w/ four 1-year renewal options.

Schedule: Full-time, minimum 40 hours per week. Pharmacy operates 24 hours per day. Work hours may consist of the following 8, 11, or 12-hour schedules:

  • 6A-2:30P

  • 2P-10:30P

  • Overnight shifts: 7P-6A or 6P-6A

Qualifications:

  • Education. Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree specializing in Pharmacy.

  • Licensure and certification. Current, full and unrestricted license in any state, commonwealth, or territory of the United States. Must be licensed to for controlled substances, with qualifications to practice in any state. CMEs must remain current. BLS required.

  • English Language Proficiency: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.

  • Subject to background/security investigation.

  • Must pass TB test.

  • Complete and online onboarding process.

  • Willingness to comply with Department of Veterans Affairs vaccination programs for seasonal influenza and COVID-19.

  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

What we do:

Monterey teams with general practice, specialists, and allied health practitioners nationwide to provide local coverage for examinees. We deliver a wide range of medical examination-only services to public sectors and the individuals they serve. Our clients include the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), the Department of Labor, the Department of Defense, and more. Our provider network consists of over 700 providers in various medical specialties and degree types. They conduct diagnostic-only examination services on an as-needed basis. These services may take place in their private office, established clinics located across the country, or during travel opportunities for group screening events.
